the Warm Springs
Water coalition
We are a mutual aid organization that coordinates with Warm Springs Tribal Emergency Management to provide drinking water to community members on the Warm Springs Reservation.(to view on mobile turn your phone sideways!)
why do we exist?
the water crisis at warm springs
Due to failing water infrastructure and outdated purification systems, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs have been experiencing a multi-year water crisis. This means that often people living on the reservation don’t have clean running water for drinking, cooking, and washing.Until they can replace their water infrastructure, a process that will take several years, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Tribal Emergency Management (TEM) needs support to continue providing clean water to the residents of Warm Springs. In the spirit of mutual aid, the Warm Springs Water Coalition coordinates community help in fundraising for water deliveries to Warm Springs.Funds go exclusively to providing water to the tribe.Due to changes in IRS tax law, we are no longer able to offer tax-deductible status for donations. All donations are securely conducted via Venmo @wswatercoalition.We encourage recurring donations, which can be made through the latest version of the Venmo app!
How does it work?
our coalition
The WSWC is organized by a consensus-driven steering committee currently made up of non-Native, white and West Asian Portlanders working in direct relationship + collaboration with Warm Springs Tribal Emergency Management. We facilitate deliveries of water to the Warm Springs Reservation by:Bottom-lining the coordination of water deliveries, collecting and reimbursing funds, collaborating with Tribal Emergency Management in strategizing around long term solutions to the water crisis, facilitating political education around the ongoing history of the colonization of Oregon, and broadening the Warm Springs Water Solidarity Network — that's you!We welcome outreach from people interested in donating, volunteering, collaborating, or joining the steering committee, particularly if you are Black, Indigenous, or a Person of Color.

our values
The Warm Springs Water Coalition exists to empower community members and grassroots organizations to act in solidarity with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Dignity, safety, anti-racism, and decolonization are our objectives. It is our intention for this organizing to be based in real relationships, fostering mutual aid — not charity. The Coalition agrees to always follow the lead or requests of the people of Warm Springs in our approach to this solidarity work. Members and affiliates will not speak on behalf of the tribes or the coalition, and will not release any public statements about the water crisis that have not been approved by our collaborators at Tribal Emergency Management.
